BIO - 200 WORDS

Australian-born Margaret Ann Spence is the author of the novels Lipstick on the Strawberry, and Joyous Lies, both published by The Wild Rose Press. Joyous Lies' was released on February 15, 2021. 

Before publication, Lipstick on the Strawberry won the First Coast Romance Writers 2015 Beacon Contest, Romantic Elements category. In 2019, the book was a finalist in the Eric Hoffer Awards and in the Next Generation Indie Awards. Her story, The Dog Catcher of Jabiru, won the Tara L. Masih Intercultural Essay Prize in the Soul Making Keats Literary Competition, 2014 before being published in About Place Journal in 2015. Her short story, The Ring, was published in Volume 1 of the Australia Burns trilogy, an anthology of stories from Wild Rose Press authors, donated to aid victims of the 2019-2020 Australian bushfires.

Margaret has a B.A. from the University of Melbourne, Australia, an M.Sc. in Journalism from Boston University, and an MBA from Simmons College. Along the way, she’s worked as a publicist, an editor, a freelance journalist, and as a consular official. She’s active in several writers’ groups in Phoenix and is a board member of Arizona Women for the Arts.
