Thanks to webmaster extraordinaire, Margaret Carson, this site will be easy to navigate, talk about the writing life, and showcase my novels Lipstick on the Strawberry and the upcoming Joyous Lies, both published by the wonderful Wild Rose Press.

I’ll also interview fellow writers of Women’s Fiction, offer occasional book reviews, and write blog posts around topics of interest. Now I admit my interests are sometimes quirky. I follow where my work in progress leads me.

For Lipstick on the Strawberry, I learned about the world of catering, and my baking skills improved greatly because I had to taste test every recipe in the book.

For Joyous Lies, I had to learn about botany, about how my protagonist Maelle studies the amazing abilities of plants, trying to understand the latest research on how they communicate with one another. Because the action of the novel is set largely on a hippie commune, now a working goat dairy and organic farm, I had to learn about organic gardening and farming without large equipment, about raising goats and all kinds of vegetables, and fruits, and I had to learn (and taste-test) how to make home-made gin. Delicious!

Because one of my main characters, Johanna, raises angora rabbits and spins, dyes and knits their wool, I took a class on fabric dyeing, learning to dye with local plants. I attended a meeting of the Arizona Weavers and Spinners Guild, where a guest speaker told of raising these adorable angora rabbits and showed how to harvest their wool.
