Margaret Ann Spence

 

Margaret Ann Spence is the award-winning author of the novels, Lipstick on the Strawberry and Joyous Lies.  Both were published by The Wild Rose Press.

Born in Australia, Margaret has made the United States home since the age of twenty-three. She has a master's degree in journalism from Boston University, worked for a major book publishing house, for a magazine, and as a publicist, and published many freelance newspaper and magazine articles.

In recent years, she turned to writing fiction, thrilled to discover that she can discover the truth in making things up. She writes about women and their families, and the secrets that lie beneath.

About Joyous Lies

Maelle Woolley, a shy botanist, prefers plants to people. They don't suddenly disappear. Raised in her grandparents' commune after her mother's mysterious death, she follows the commune's utopian beliefs of love for all. Then she falls for attractive psychiatrist Zachary Kane. When Zachary claims her mother and his father never emerged alive from his father's medical research lab, Maelle investigates. What she discovers will challenge everything she believes, force her to find strength she never knew she had, and confront the commune's secrets and lies. What happened to love? And can it survive?

Joyous Lies was a finalist in the 2021 Somerset Awards for Contemporary and Literary Fiction. Named for the British writer Somerset Maugham, the Somerset Awards is a genre division of the International Chanticleer Book Awards and recognizes emerging talents and outstanding works.

About Lipstick On The Strawberry

Estranged from her English family, Camilla Fetherwell now lives in the United States and owns a successful catering business. Returning home for her father’s funeral, she reunites with her first love, Billy, whom she hasn’t seen since her father broke up their teenage romance. Billy seems eager to resume their love affair. But after one blissful night together, things take a turn.

Camilla suspects her father may have led a secret life, and when Billy reveals something he, too, has discovered, her apprehension grows. Billy holds her heart, but their relationship might be tainted by what her father hid. A reunion seems impossible.

Her life feels as splattered as her catering apron. As she watches her food stylist make a strawberry look luscious with a swipe of lipstick, Camilla wonders if a gloss has been put over a family secret. Can she and Billy survive what’s underneath?
